Harley (and a couple of his "siblings") came to us after his human momma died, and his dad couldn't take care of so many dogs alone. Harley was well cared for, and very loved, and now he has captured the hearts of everyone here. He's a calm boy, and LOVES to snuggle.

Harley has special needs. He's an 11-year young rat terrier with diabetes. He needs insulin twice a day at consistent 12-hour intervals, so that means his new family needs a set routine. His diabetes is stable, and he's not bothered at all by the injections. We have him on a special food, and with moderate exercise, he's at a good weight. His special food, and current insulin dosage, costs about $100/month, so he needs a person who can commit to that expense.

He spent his life as mostly an indoor dog (when he wasn't spreading his love visiting local nursing homes), and is trained to go potty on newspaper or puppy pads in the bathroom. While he's been with us, he's now in the groove of doing his business outside. He walks quite well on leash and knows Sit. You can teach an old dog new tricks, and Harley is ready to learn.

Harley is good with kids, adults, strangers, and other dogs, big and small. He did not live with cats, but shows happy, playful behaviors around them here. What's not to love?

If you can meet Harley's needs, please stop by to visit this little charmer -- you won't regret it!
