Outspoken October is one of the beagles we have been caring for since January 29th, when they left a life of abuse behind them, came into our care to await a change in their legal ownership, and learned to snuggle, play, and get to be a dog with a GOOD life!

October is extremely active, and is go-go-go when she's with the other beagles. This girl wants to play NON-STOP, to the point of annoying her dog friends with her puppy-like socialization skills. She would do great in a multi-dog home because of how much she loves other dogs, but also so they can take turns tolerating her. She needs a person who can help her take breaks, and dial down the intense fun. When not playing, she wants to be busy doing SOMETHING. Sturdy enrichment toys or shredding boxes is one good way to keep her brain active, and anything involving her beagle nose is a good workout!

October can be timid when seeing new people, sights, or sounds, so may not do well in a household with children.

October has learned to walk on a leash, is crate trained, keeps her kennel clean during the day (with lots of outside time), but is not clean through the night. (Keep in mind, these dogs were living on wire floors of open cages above the ground, so that they would just toilet whenever, and it would fall through to the pile of feces below).

A 5-week Good Manners training course is included in October's $350.00 adoption fee. Please call the Adoption Center at 802-476-3811, or email info@centralvermonthumane.org, to schedule a time to talk to an adoption counselor about her, and to determine if you should meet October.
