Chester
Chester joined the CVHS team over a month ago, and we've given him all the time he needed to gain his confidence, and show us what a goofy, happy, fun-loving guy he is!
He came to us because he had too much youthful energy for the family, and another dog in the home was aggressive to him, so it was not a good environment for him. Chester had never ridden in a car, and never worn a harness or leash, so being brought here was scary; the transition to CVHS was a bit tough for him. Now that he knows everyone, and has learned that everyone he meets here is kind and fun, he has really come out of his shell, and is loving life!!
He is learning to walk nicely on leash with a harness, and is continuing to learn to keep "four on the floor" when greeting people. His exuberant energy, and lack of body awareness, is probably too much for living with young children, but if they are skilled at staying on their feet when run into, it could be a possible match. He did live with cats, but he enjoyed chasing them, so probably not a great fit for a cat household. We have found that Chester adores other dogs, and he does really well adjusting to different play-styles.
A 5-week Good Manners training course is included in Chester's $350.00 adoption fee. Please call the Adoption Center at 802-476-3811, or email info@centralvermonthumane.org, to schedule a time to talk to an adoption counselor about him, and to determine if you should meet Chester.
