Coal has the looks of a small black lab, and the nose and voice of a beagle! He previously lived with another dog and a couple cats, but occasionally had some disagreements with them. He has never been around younger children, but has been fine with kids 10 years old and older. He is initially shy with strangers, but warms up quickly, and attaches strongly to "his" people.
Coal loves to follow his nose on walks, and he's very food motivated, so he's a great learner, and already knows a few cues. His food intake needs to be controlled, or he gets chunky pretty quickly. His previous owner reported that he has escaped from a fenced-in yard, so he will need to be on-leash, or in a yard with supervision.
If you think Coal would fit into your life, stop in to talk with an adoption counselor, and see if you are a good match! A Good Manners training class is included in his $350.00 adoption fee.
