Frankie is a timid feline who loves to get to know you before showering you with headbutts and purrs. He needs an indoor only home that can give him lots of love and attention. He enjoys having another feline around to keep him company and cuddle with but he does have a health limitations.
Frankie has tested positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. It is very unusual for a cat with FIV to pass on FIV to other cats in the same household. This can only happen if the FIV-positive cat is biting other cats. Cats who test positive for FIV tend to have the virus stay in their bodies for the rest of their lives. It can occasionally affect their immune systems and make it more likely that they might get sick, or possibly pass on illness to other cats in their household, although this is uncommon. However, to prevent transmission of the virus, cats with FIV should not live in households where they are biting other cats.
If you are adopting a cat who is FIV-positive, you should be aware of their status, and consider having your vet do a simple blood test with other cats in your household to find out their status also.
