Toad
Toad is a big boy with a big personality. He is looking for an owner who is active, and can give him the energy outlet that he needs. He is working with our staff on using a harness, as he is a big puller.
He came to us through an Animal Control Officer, so we do not know a lot about his background. We have found that most dogs do not like Toad, and the couple that do, either don't know how to handle him, or he doesn't like them. He needs to be an only dog, with no expectation to meet other dogs. His body language when he has seen a cat through a window tells us he would not be the kind of friend cats hope for in a dog, so he needs to be the only pet in the home. Due to Toad being a bull in a china shop, he's not recommended to go home with young children, unless they are very sturdy, and don't mind being knocked down.
Toad has a slightly elongated soft palate, which means he may sound wheezy when getting exercise, but our veterinarian feels corrective surgery is not necessary. He may need a little guidance from his human friends to slow down when he's having fun and is go-go-go.
A 5-week Good Manners training course is included in Toad's $350.00 adoption fee. Please call the Adoption Center at 802-476-3811, or email [email protected], to schedule a time to talk to an adoption counselor about him, and to determine if you should meet Toad.
