Jack joined the CVHS crew when his family's life was upended, he was adopted for a couple months, and he's back with us to find a new home that is the right fit for his needs.

New situations make this sweet boy a bit anxious, so he'd prefer a calm home with dependable routines, with someone willing to play fetch, take him for walks, and rides in the car. In his previous home he had a fenced-in yard that he loved to run in, so it'd be great if he had an option for being able to safely run around. He does have a prey drive, as is very normal for his breed, so he should not live around small animals.

Jack has lived with dogs in his last two homes, but we think it creates stress for him, which results in soiling and marking behavior, and even gives him an upset stomach, resulting in some vomiting. He has not been around children, and his hesitation with new situations indicates that young active kids may be a bit too much for him, but older (teenager) calm kids might be ok for him.

While he's been back with us, staff and volunteers have been working REALLY hard to help Jack with his "house training", and with consistent, frequent potty breaks, with lots of positive reinforcement for toileting outside, Jack is now keeping his kennel clean throughout the day! He needs a person who can continue to support and reinforce this behavior, and is home enough to give him the regular breaks he needs for now.

A 5-week Good Manners training course is included in Jack's $350.00 adoption fee. Please call the Adoption Center at 802-476-3811, or email [email protected], to schedule a time to talk to an adoption counselor about him, and to determine if you should meet Jack.
