Reed
Reed came to us in March as a stray, wandering through his town with two dog friends. Originally we were hoping to place them all together, but the more we get to know them, spending time in a foster home and the shelter, it has become clear that Rain would rather not live with River. Because these dogs have very different needs, we are looking for River to have a home of her own, and Rain & Reed can go to a home together. Rain spends the day in Reed's colony room in the Cat Wing, and they really love hanging out together.
We Reed first came to us, he tolerated his feline roommates, but spent most of his time hiding. We gave him his own colony room, but he still did not warm up. UNTIL...we brought his dog friends Rain and River to see him, and he totally changed!! Head butts, purrs, and snuggles are now the norm. It has even reached a point where Rain doesn't need to be there for Reed to ask staff for attention - he now seeks it out from us, whenever we go in his room.
We don't know if Reed has had any experience with children, but at this time we feel he would do best in a calm and quiet environment with no young children.
